Enochville

ENOCHVILLE - Community in Rowan County named after the St. Enoch's Evangelical Lutheran Church which was organized in 1835.

The community was an incorporated town from 1877 through 1974; however, many thought the town was dissolved for more than half of the 97 years.  After the Rowan County Board of Elections required the community to hold municipal elections in 1973, a referendum in 1974 was introduced to either keep or repeal the town charter.  By a vote of 84-41, Enochville's charter was repealed and Enochville was now an unincorporated community.

In 2009, a bill was introduced in the North Carolina General Assembly to re-incorporate the town; however, it failed in committee.
