Spring Hope Tar River Bridge Revisited

In August 2008, I went back to the site of the former US 64 bridge over the Tar River in Spring Hope to take some more photos.  A little more research shows that the bridge was built in 1921 - and that the bridge would close in July 1980.  By then the bridge had a one tone weight limit and only allowed one way traffic.  The Webb's Mill Bridge - as it was also known as - typically handled only 400 vehicles a day when it closed after 59 years of service.  Please enjoy these additional photos!
