Robbins - Former Train Station
Robbins - Known earlier (as early as 1828) Mechanicks Hill and Mechanicsville after David Kennedy, a local mechanic and gunsmith. Later know as Elise and in 1935, the town was incorporated as Hemp. In 1943, the town's name was changed to Robbins after Kart Robbins - who owned a local mill.
In modern times, the Moore County town is more known as the childhood home of former North Carolina United States Senator and Democratic Presidential Candidate, John Edwards.
