Hoopers Creek Grocery

HOOPERS CREEK - An unincorporated community in Northern Henderson County.  The creek that it is named for flows west into nearby Cane Creek.

Hoopers Creek Grocery was once the main local store for the community located at the intersection of Hoopers Creek Road, Burney Mountain Road, and Souther Road.  The grocery building was built in 1935 and like many country stores of the time had a pair of gas pumps. 

When I stopped by to take photos of the old store, the new owner of the building was there.  He had just closed on the home and property behind the building and the former store was part of the lot.  He intends to renovate the building, preserve the old Hoopers Creek Grocery Ghost Sign, and hopes that it can once again become a community store home to local goods.
