Climax
Climax.
This Guilford County town, established in 1853, doesn't have as a tawdry of a history as its name suggests.
The town of Climax is named such because of its location on high ground. It's altitude 824 feet.
A number of other towns in North Carolina received their name because of their elevation either in comparison to the surrounding area or along a rail line. Apex and High Point are two examples.
